Mental Health & Substance Abuse Interventions
|
What is an Intervention?
An intervention is about motivating another individual to change despite their resistance to change. This motivation is achieved when their loved ones or employer confront the individual regarding problem behaviors. The Interventionist, a Licensed Trained Mental Health Professional, facilitates the group process and options for recovery.
What is the Intervention process?
- The Interventionist is contacted by family member, friend or employer
- People of significant importance to the individual being intervened on are identified
- Healthcare benefits are verified in order to determine treatment options if insurance is being utilized
- Assistance provided with negotiating the cost of treatment for those paying out of pocket
- Interventionist advises those participating in the intervention on the process and instructs them on their presentation
- The Interventionist may provide psychoeducation and discusses feelings and concerns regarding the individual and the problems being confronted
- Group identifies desired goal of intervention which may be treatment or other agreed upon option
- Date/time and place scheduled for intervention
- Transportation coordinated to treatment
What is the Cost?
The cost may vary depending on the amount of time, psychoeducation and preparation required to complete the intervention. Please call Alicia MacGowan, LCSW, LAADC or utilize visitor feedback form below to inquire.
